Dental
Dental Health plays an important and integral role in the well-being of our animals. Infections and diseases can cause pain, and stress on the immune system. It is imperative to understand and stop the bacteria from spreading into the bloodstream which can cause severe organ disease.
Dental Cleaning
A dental cleaning involves removing plaque and tartar from the teeth and below the gumline. This is usually done under general anesthesia to ensure that your pet remains still and comfortable during the procedure.
In-House Dental X-Ray
Advanced dental cleanings, also known as periodontal therapy, are recommended for animals with more advanced dental disease. During this procedure, the veterinarian will perform a deeper cleaning that goes below the gumline to remove tartar and bacteria from the roots of the teeth. In some cases, the veterinarian may also perform a scaling and polishing of the teeth to smooth out any rough surfaces and prevent future plaque buildup.
Tooth Extraction
Tooth extraction is a common dental procedure in veterinary medicine, and is typically recommended when a tooth is severely damaged or infected. During the procedure, the veterinarian will use specialized tools to carefully remove the tooth and surrounding tissue, and may prescribe pain medication or antibiotics to help manage pain and prevent infection.
